Introduction

Welcome to the Literacy Module on Gender and Social Inclusion.

This module is designed to enhance your awareness of gender equality and social inclusion while developing English language skills. Gender and social inclusion in this module refers to helping people, especially those facing challenges; experiences of  people with disabilities, those living in poverty, and individuals marginalized because of their gender and to take a more active role in society by providing better opportunities, access to resources, a voice, and respect for their rights. Through engaging activities and discussions, readers will strengthen critical literacy, embrace diversity, and help create inclusive communities.

This site consists of five modules that bring up issues related to five pillars of Social Development Goals : (1) No Poverty, (2) Zero Hunger, (3) Quality Education, (4) Health and Well-being, and (5) Gender Equality. Each module has two features: Teacher’s Guide and Course Module.

The Teacher’s Guide covers: (A) The Lesson Information, (B) Learning Objectives,  Book Information, and (D) Teaching Steps. The teaching activities applied the reading strategies such as: previewing, visualizing, predicting, questioning, identifying, connecting, inferring, and evaluating.

The Course Module covers: (A) Pre-Activities, (B) Main Activities, and ( C ) Extra Activities, which consist of several learning activities for students. The main activities will lead students to comprehend the story through the Generic Structure of narrative text which are: orientation, complication, and resolution questions. Module 1 - No Poverty

This lesson is designed for Junior High School students and aims to develop students’ critical literacy and understanding toward the issue of Social Inclusion in the topic of ‘No Poverty’ through multimodal literacy

Module 2 - Zero Hunger

This lesson is designed for Junior High School students and aims to develop students’ critical literacy and understanding toward the issue of Social Inclusion in the topic of ‘Zero Hunger’ through multimodal literacy

Module 3 - Good Health and Well-being

This lesson is designed for Junior High School students and aims to develop students’ critical literacy and understanding toward the issue of Social Inclusion in the topic of ‘Good Health and Well-being’ through multimodal literacy

Module 4 - Quality Education

This lesson is designed for Junior High School students and aims to develop students’ critical literacy and understanding toward the issue of Social Inclusion in the topic of ‘Quality Education’ through multimodal literacy
